Training Schedule & Registration

The following training sessions are available for attendance by the Penn State University's College of Engineering Faculty & Staff. Users from other areas can contact Lisa for more information.

All of the training sessions will be held in the Engineering Training Lab in 153J Hammond unless otherwise noted.

Training listed as mini sessions provide in-depth training on specific software features/topics.

Please note that legacy software is no longer available for formal training and is available for support only. Many of these programs are included in our Video Library. A list of support only software and comparable replacements can be viewed on our Support Only Software List.

Dreamweaver CS3

Dreamweaver CS3 Basics

  • February 3 & 4, 2010 (1:30 - 4:30)

(Dreamweaver CS3 is the most recent version of Dreamweaver; a software application for creating web sites. In this session, we will cover available purchasing options, and explore the basic and new features of Dreamweaver CS3. You will be introduced to the program’s interface, use the Site Definition Wizard to set up a web site, insert and format text, insert and resize images, insert hyperlinks and tables, and format text with CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). We will also explore of the features that are new in Dreamweaver CS3, including pre-formatted CSS layouts, Spry widgets, and Photoshop CS3 integration. This class will be useful for people who are new to web design, or for people who formerly used FrontPage and are new to designing with Dreamweaver. Training will be held in 2 half day sessions.) (In this session, we will cover the CS3 purchasing options available for web designers and editors. We will use the Adobe CS3 Web Premium edition to explore the new features of Dreamweaver CS3 hands-on. Some of the new features include pre-formatted CSS layouts, Spry widgets, and Photoshop CS3 integration. This class will be useful for people who are already using Dreamweaver 8.0.)

Adobe Acrobat Connect Meeting Overview
(formerly Breeze)

  • November 12, 2009 (10:30 - 12:00) (one session scheduled)

(This overview session will provide faculty and staff with a brief look at Adobe Acrobat Connect (formerly Breeze) Meeting, a web conferencing tool provided by the University. Faculty and staff will be able to experience what a Meeting ‘Host’ or ‘Presenter’ can utilize during a created meeting, as well as what ‘Participants’ (attendees) would view if attending a Meeting. In addition, pertinent College and University information will be relayed to attendees and important links to documentation will be provided. Attendees will be able to experience Adobe Acrobat Connect (formerly Breeze) Meeting and have the ability to actually participate in a hands-on meeting.) Instructor - Maria Ruth

New Features in ANGEL 7.3

(This workshop will provide participants with an introduction to the new features rolled out with ANGEL 7.3. In addition to exploring the new ANGEL interface, we will consider enhancements to various existing tools as well as several totally new tools ANGEL now has to offer. Using ANGEL: The Essentials

(This workshop is ideally suited for those who are new to using ANGEL and/or need to use ANGEL right away. The ‘essentials’ include: how to enable your course space; adding content to a course; previewing your course space as users will see it; creating and managing teams; and communicating with students.  Instructor:  Roxanne Toto


Pre-requisites for the ANGEL session:
Experience using a web browser, have and active user account (PSU Access Account), and if supporting faculty courses,either Instructor or Course Editor rights for a course in ANGEL

* This means that staff who are attending the sessions (so they can support their faculty) need to have ALREADY been provided access to the instructor’s course and possess either Course Editor or Instructor RIGHTS in the course.

NOTE: If users do not have an ANGEL course space where they are an editor, they can use the Groups feature in ANGEL.
