MS PhotoDraw 2000 Tips

PLEASE NOTE:   The software tips and shortcuts shown below may also work if you’re using the  Office 2007 version.

Tips concerning keyboard shortcuts may still work in 2007; in addition, tips that involve using the lower Office version’s ‘menu’ options may have an equivalent function in 2007 using the new Ribbon and OFFICE button (that replaces the previous menu/toolbars).  We will be revising our Software Tips pages as part of our upcoming web redesign and we’ll make necessary additions at that time.

TIP #1: RESIZING AN OBJECT

To resize a picture while maintaining its proportions, click to select the picture you want to resize and use the corner resize handles.

To resize a picture from the center outward and still maintain its proportions, hold the CTRL key down and use the corner resize handles.

To stretch or squeeze a picture, use a side resize handle (rather than a corner resize handle).

To stretch or squeeze a picture from the center outward, hold the CTRL key down and use the side resize handle.

TIP #2: SOFTEN THE EDGES OF A PICTURE

Select the picture you want to modify and from the Edge menu, select Soft Edges. Move the slider to the right to soften the edges of your picture.

TIP #3: PHOTODRAW OFFERS SEVERAL WAYS TO ADJUST/ENHANCE COLOR

Brightness and Contrast - From the Touch Up menu, select Brightness and Contrast. Use the slider bar to increase or decrease Brightness and/or Contrast.

Tint - From the TouchUp menu, select Correct Tint. You can select the Automatic button to allow PhotoDraw to adjust the tint for you.

Hue and Saturation - Turn areas of a picture which are one color into another by adjusting the Hue. You can make colors more or less vivid by adjusting the Saturation. From the Effects menu, choose Color Effects and then choose Hue and Saturation from the Effects drop down list.

Colorize - From the Effects menu, choose Color Effects and then choose Colorize. Choose the color you want to apply variations of and use the slider bar to adjust the amount.

Color Balance - If you want to add and/or reduce the amount of a certain color from your picture, you can do this by choosing the Effects menu, then choose Color Effects and choose Color Balance from the Effects drop down list. Use  the slider bars to adjust the amount of a particular color in your picture.
