Electronic and Computer Services provides service and support to the College in the areas of Education, Research, and Administration. Additionally, we specifically support College and University faculty in the following capacities:
Our various support services can supplement and streamline your communications and computing efforts. We provide a reliable networking infrastructure, evaluate new technologies, provide administrative computing support and training for faculty users of the network. Our computer, network, and training support services provide you with the maximum computing environment flexibility, services, and support in all your data communications needs.
Computer and Software Support personnel assume the primary missions of maintaining the College's Administrative Servers and interacting with you on matters concerning College-wide Communications and Computing. They assist with configuring hardware and software on departmental servers or personal computers to ensure you can effectively communicate within the College, among University colleagues, and outside the bounds of the University. Also, personnel are responsible for establishing College user accounts and maintaining the College's Mail Servers.
Personnel in Network Infrastructure Support assume the missions of maintaining and servicing the College's Fiber and Cable plant as well as the communications hardware that distributes network services. They also provide connection services for you, interact with the University's Information & Technology Services on matters that affect communications outside the College Network and plan future directions for the College Communications and Computing environment. They also provide Voice over IP Unified Messaging services.
Training Support personnel provide you with classroom and individualized training on commonly used software packages. Training is also offered for College applications. Their expertise can increase your productivity by enhancing your knowledge of commercial software as well as those applications developed to meet Penn State's Administrative Information Systems specifications.
